The Department of Tourism Guidance within the Safranbolu Faculty of Tourism, which was established in accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers No. 2011/2276 dated 26 September 2011 and published in the Official Gazette No. 28094 dated 24 October 2011, started its education life with 30 students in the 2019-2020 academic year. There are currently 1 Associate Professor and 3 Assistant Professors working in our department, and the number of academic staff is increasing. The education period in our department is 4 years.
The aim of our department is; To train tourism guides who can build bridges between the past and the future, who have the ability to integrate national values with contemporary values, and who are aware of the responsibility of being a "tourism guide" with courses focusing on different subjects and periods. For this purpose, those who know foreign languages well, know Turkey with its history, culture and geography in the best way, can establish good human relations, can think analytically, have developed problem solving, management and organizational knowledge and skills, and have basic basic skills such as tolerance, courtesy, respect and honesty. It is aimed to train qualified tourist guides and manager candidates who have social values and leadership and representation skills.
In order to graduate from the department, internships specified in the regulations for each department must be completed. Graduates of the tourism department can become researchers and experts in this field with the title of tourist guide, and they can also work in hotels, travel agencies, holiday villages, food and beverage establishments and tourism-related organizations in line with the education they receive and the experience they have gained.
Faculty members and assistants of the department conduct research that aims to contribute to the best education of our students and to reveal the unknown points of both the region and the Turkish and world cultural values.
