Safranbolu Faculty of Tourism was established with the Decree dated 26.09.2011 and numbered 2011/2276, and its establishment was announced in the Official Gazette dated 24.10.2011 and numbered 28094. Within the scope of the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 22.02.2012, in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, it was deemed appropriate to open a Department of Tourism Management / Department of Tourism Management within the Safranbolu Faculty of Tourism:
The Department of Tourism Management accepted its first students in the 2013-2014 academic year and produced its first graduates at the end of the 2017-2018 academic year. The purpose of establishing the department is to contribute to the training of the educated workforce needed in the Western Black Sea Region at the micro level and throughout the country at the macro level and to the development of the country's tourism.
The education process in the Tourism Management department starts with a 1-year Optional English Preparatory Program. During the scientific education process, students; A curriculum program consisting of four groups of courses is implemented: compulsory courses, foreign language elective courses, field elective courses and general elective courses.
Graduates of the Department of Tourism Management; In the private sector, managers work in the front office, housekeeping, kitchen, service, bar, purchasing, marketing-sales and human resources departments of accommodation establishments, in the reservation, operation, ticketing and accounting departments of travel agencies, in ground services of airline companies, in food and beverage establishments and in recreation establishments. It can work as. In the public sector, there are also opportunities to work in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and its affiliated organizations. Graduates of the department can open their own businesses in the accommodation, food and beverage and travel services sectors as entrepreneurs, thanks to the tourism management education they have received. Department students who are considering an academic career can continue their master's and doctoral programs.
Tourism management department students have the opportunity to do a double major with Safranbolu Faculty of Tourism, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Department of Tourism Guidance and Faculty of Business Administration. Thus, students of the department have the opportunity to receive two university diplomas. The Department of Tourism Management has a total of 7 academic staff (1 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 2 Doctoral Lecturers and 1 Research Assistant) as of the 2023-2024 Spring Term.
